Getting started

Prepare to connect your domain

What to check before moving your incoming email.

01

Identify your current email service

List the addresses and aliases in use, along with the people who access them. Check where your domain currently receives email before changing any records.

02

Understand what the records do

MX records determine where email arrives. SPF, DKIM and DMARC help authenticate messages sent using your domain. The console prepares the required records when you add a domain.

03

Plan the change to incoming email

A domain has a single set of MX records. Replacing them with Sitemail’s changes where incoming email is delivered. Plan the transition with your team; adding a domain does not automatically migrate old messages.

04

Verify before using your new inboxes

Publish the suggested records, then verify your domain in the console. Publishing can be automated for domains managed with Cloudflare. Next, test receiving and replying with an address you control.
